Inspired by the short-lived 1970s TV horror series starring Darren McGavin. Chris Carter cited Kolchak as his main inspiration when he created "The X Files."

Now Kolchak's a reporter and he's working the crime beat
When the story of a bloodless corpse lands right at the man's feet.
The killer, Janos Skorzeny, Romanian by birth
Had died some 30 years ago but still he walks the Earth.

So Kolchak tracked the vampire down and followed him to his place.
He let the sunlight in and stuck a cross right in his face.
Then he pulled out a wooden stake and the vampire's days were through.
Don't mess with Kolchak's people or he's coming after you.

Onboard an ocean liner, he once shot a werewolf dead.
A Hindu demon named Rakshasa got inside his head.
The ghost of a Medieval knight was cutting people down.
And a fashion model who knew witchcraft once blew into town.

There was a motorcyclist with no head and a sword.
They dug his grave up, thus depriving him of his reward.
So he went on a killing spree 'til Kolchak came along.
He's reunited with his skull and back where he belongs.

Now you may be a succubus sent here from down below,
Or invisible space aliens from up in the cosmos.
If you start taking human life in Carl Kolchak's town,
You bet your butt he'll find you and he'll put you in the ground.
